HOUSING REHABILITATION PROGRAMS
The purpose of the housing rehabilitation program is to help homeowners rehabilitate their homes, bringing them into compliance with local housing standards.
Community Contacts, Inc. began its first single family owner occupied rehabilitation program in 1995, and has rehabilitated over 850 homes in Kane and Dekalb counties. Funding is from the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), Kane County, and other local and state agencies.
Homeowners, who meet income and home value qualifications, may become eligible for a no-interest, deferred loan for the rehabilitation. In addition grants are available to address lead based hazards in homes. Generally up to $30,000 is available for homes.

Contacts, Inc. will:
- Assess the need.
- Inspect the property.
- Write the work order.
- Bid the jobs.
- Supervise the contractors.
- Inspect the job sites.
- Handle the paperwork.
